About the Sushruta Innovation Award
Developed clusters like Ahmedabad and Baroda in pharmaceuticals and medical devices has lead India to low cost effective drugs/ devices as a example. However a detail diagnosis in these clusters was attempted and found there is lack of enabling condition for the budding innovators. To boost up the clusters various intervention were made and to further promote the capacity of the institutions to link with the industry, competition such as the Sushruta Innovation award was conceptualized. This can create a new generation of technology-driven innovative enterprises, which last longer and grow rapidly. We can also expect to create new role models that will generate confidence in our innovation capabilities and act as a positive reinforcement to national innovation efforts.
The competition is implemented by the Foundation for MSME Clusters under the Promoting Innovation Clusters programme (PIC) (www.innovationclusters.org), which is supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Ministry of Science and Technology, India.
